Marion “Marlo” Lombardo Erling, 63, daughter of the late Thomas and Joanna (Sicari) Giampetruzzi of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at her home in Bristol, CT on Saturday, November 14, 2009. “Marlo” lost a 19 month battle to pancreatic cancer. “Marlo”, was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on October 9, 1946 and graduated from Wilby High School. She later attended Parson’s School of Design and Fashion in New York City in the early to mid 1980’s where she learned the art of dressmaking. “Marlo” opened her first alterations and boutique shop in 1986 in Waterbury and later on opened other shops in Southbury, Thomaston and most recently Bristol, which was her last. “Marlo” was extremely creative, talented and fashionable who loved owning her own business, attracting many people and making numerous friends. She had an unforgettable, outgoing personality and pleasant smile. “Marlo” made many life long friends through the years not only in business but also through her passion to “sing”. She took professional singing lessons at an early age, which transformed her natural talent in joining many musical productions in the Waterbury area. In the past 10 years she was a member of the Bristol Choral Society, Saint Ann’s Roman Catholic Church Choir and the annual Bristol OM Show. “Marlo” leaves her husband, Robert K. Erling, of Bristol; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Nancy Lombardo of Greenwich, CT and many close relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 215 West Street, Bristol, CT 06010, or to the Bristol Hospital Hospice, 222 Main St., Bristol, CT 06010. The funeral will be held Saturday, November 21, at 9am from DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, followed by a Mass at 10 am in St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol, CT. What can one say about Marlo, she always had a smile on her face, if she was talking about her cruises or her work. She helped me so much because you see I am "vertically challenged" Marlo made every pair of slacks and skirts fit me like they were made for me.
I will miss her infectios smile and her wonderful love for life, she taught me many beautiful lessons, we spent alot of time in her shops.
Know that she is in a better place now and not suffering anymore and now the angels have an perfectionist to fix there wings.
Marlo has always been in my prayers since I found out she was sick. She was a VERY special angel.
God be with you at this time.
He will help you through this in his time.
Always,
Denise

Dear Micheal and Bob,
My sincere sympathy to you. Although I lost recent contact with Marlo, I will never forget her friendship and talent that inspired me. I have fond memories in her shop and Howland Hughes and dont forget Winston. I will never forget Marlo's spiritual words when my father was dying. My prayers and thoughts are with you in this time.
